Last Saturday, Lindsey Menner (of CutieCooks) and I threw a small dinner party for eight of our closest friends. The theme was entirely based on the colorblock fashion trend, which inspired the menu, the decorations, the cocktails, and obviously, the dress code. We all had a ball!

Whether it was Mondrian inspired sequins at Gianfranco Ferré or clashing suit separates at Gucci, designers loved colors on the spring 2011 runways.  But wallflowers beware; when trying this trend you will instantly become the center of attention.  

The goal here is to pop, and there are offerings for every occasion.  Roland Mouret showed an electric body conscious sheath suitable for 5 o'clock cocktails, while at Louis Vuitton, a slit up-to-there colorblocked Asian inspired gown is deserving of a red carpet event.  

Wanna rock the trend now?  Find the brightest solid separates you own and mix together.  Wear with confidence.  Repeat.
