The Look for Less: Baroque N Roll

One of my favorite fall collections this year came from Dolce & Gabbana. While the label always designs beautiful clothes, the baroque Italian looks and the advertising campaign starring actress Monica Bellucci and models Bianca Balti and Bianca Brandolini epitomizes everything I want to wear this season.

Sheer lace, nipped silhouettes, Renaissance worthy golds, sexy sheers, and chic chignons offset by enormous earrings - in my book, nothing is more glamorous. I checked out some of Dolce's beautiful pieces on net-a-porter, just for fun, and was shellshocked by the extreme price tags. Some of the baroque dresses ran upwards of $20,000 (insert gasp here).

Luckily, some less expensive stores have caught the baroque bug and are offering glam Italian-inspired pieces at prices suitable for budget-minded babes like myself. Check out my round up below!

Super Bowl Countdown: Boho at Lorenzo's

Day 9: Boho at Lorenzo's

On Friday, we went to new Indy Italian restaurant, Lorenzo's on Market Street. It was right next to the Bud Light hotel, so it was right in the middle of the madness. My mom came out with us because she wanted to check out Super Bowl village and all the excitement that was happening downtown.

We waited for our reservation for quite awhile, but it was perfectly okay because we got a drink at the bar and had a great time observing all the out-of-towners acting like drunken fools.

After we sat down for dinner, a drunk guy approached our table. We thought it was a little awkward, but with our famous Hoosier hospitality, we humored his questions. Until he got to this one:

Drunk: "Did you guys grow up on a chicken farm?"

(Funny question, because we actually all grew up next together on an old farm, but we never used it for farming)

My cousin Annie: "No, but we did grow up on an old pony farm."

Drunk, who was clearly taken off guard by Annie's response: "Um.... did you guys grow up on a chicken farm?"

All of us in unison: "Um... no."

Drunk: "Well you are good at raising c*cks."

My sister Rachel, pointing to my mom: "Hi. Meet my mother."

Drunk, looking suddenly uncomfortable: "Oh sh*t."

The funny thing is, I think my mom laughed the loudest.

Anyway, I wore a hat by Jessica Simpson (don't judge me), fringe silk dress by ASOS, leather and fur coat by Bebe (again, don't judge me), and boots by Dolce Vita.

Super Bowl Countdown: Fishnets and Hip Hop

On Thursday a few of us went to the Wiz and Snoop Dogg at Conseco. The first several acts were terrible, but Wiz and Snoop made it worth waiting through two hours of crappy DJs and "comedians."

My sister and cousin got hit on by two gentlemen named Magic and Time. Seriously, those were their names. That has nothing to do with anything, but I just wanted to throw that in there for kicks and giggles.

I wanted to look tough, so I thought throwing together leopard, leather, and fishnets would do the trick.  My head scarf is ASOS, the leather jacket is BCBG and the dress is American Apparel.

Super Bowl Countdown: Braid and Beer

Day 7: Braid and Beer at the Sun King Brewery Tent and Rathskeller

After Sunday Funday, I took a couple of days off and resumed the festivities on Wednesday for a couple of cool concerts at two of my favorite beer spots in Indy. First, we started out at Sun King's temporary tent they built for the Super Bowl. Local girl band Neon Love Life played at the venue, which was exciting because I always hear so much about them, but up until now have never gotten a chance to see them.

I really hope Sun King brings back the tent in the summer, because it was such a cool place to hang out, not to mention EXTREMELY close to my apartment.

Afterward, we checked out my boyfriend's cousin's band, Gypsy Revival, at the Rathskeller. Everyone in Gypsy Revival is crazy talented. They cover a lot of classic rock songs and their original music is great too. Gypsy plays at many of my favorite venues in Indianapolis - Mouse Trap, White Rabbit Cabaret, Vollrath, etc.

I tried to dress the part of hipster music junkie (the latter of which is true), so I wore a printed dress that I found at an adorable boutique in NYC called Babel Fair. My tights are H&M, my wedge shearling boots are DVF, the leather fringe bag is Jill Stuart, and my tassel necklace is ASOS. The beer is Sun King Wee Mac, Three Floyd's Alpha King, and Warsteiner Dunkel.

Day 3, AM: Skulls at the NFL Experience

My sister Rachel and I took my lil sis (through Big Bros Big Sis) to the NFL Experience at the Convention Center on Saturday. It was the first day of the event, and it was packed! Tons of entertainment and activities everywhere, but extremely long lines. I'm not allowed to post pictures of my little sis on the internet (understandably so), but she got some sick face paint. Rachel and I were reminiscing about how different old school face paint was. I remember miniature graphics in puffy paint that cracked when you made any facial expressions.

I essentially wore pajamas in disguise to the NFL Experience. I was so comfortable! ASOS beanie and parka, Kors plaid high heeled duck boots, Rachel Pally skull leggings and top by Tea.

I wanted to stand behind the Colts one but I couldn't find it, so Cleveland Browns it was!

The Rihanna Look For Less: Cheap Creepers

I don't know what it is about Rihanna, but there is just something about her trashy chic style that totally inspires me. I hated creeper shoes when they first came out at Prada last spring, but Rihanna has been wearing some really cool ones lately, specifically in her "We Found Love" video (above).

Recently, on the X Factor, she performed in some awesome DIY graffiti creepers by Underground for Ashish, which she customized with some naughty words. I was delighted to find out that they were available at one of my favorite websites, ASOS, only to discover that they ship exclusively to the UK. Sad day. I browsed a bit further on the US website and found some really fun alternatives, including these silver ones from Aldo for $126.27 (below).

After a quick look at Aldo's own website, I found them cheaper for only $27.99. Gotta love Cyber Monday! Since I'm usually more of a high heels girl, I was thrilled to get the opportunity to buy these for such a cheap price, in case my creeper obsession ends up being a short phase (which is quite likely).

Tip: Always always always check multiple websites before you buy anything online. It might save you a few bucks, or in my case, a hundred!
