Fashion Week S/S 2013 Dinner Party

Thursday, September 20, 2012

Thanks Abby, for this photo!

Rachel, Brittany and I had so much fun hosting our fashion week dinner party last year, we decided to make it an annual event. This time, instead of a progressive party with a course at each of our apartments, we reserved The Maxwell's event room for the evening. Since we all wore heels, it was a lot more convenient for our guests.

Hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour were prosciutto, goat cheese, and peach crostini. Rachel found the recipe on Pinterest, one of our favorite sites. Follow Rachel and me!

Rachel pours the drinks before our guests arrive

Brittany, our resident mixologist, came up with the drink recipes. Our first cocktail was a lime and mint martini.
Goat cheese tarts with arugula salad

The appetizer course was a goat cheese tart with arugula salad. To. Die. For. We found the recipe in American Fashion Cookbook, the CFDA cookbook. Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo of our main dish, roasted tilapia with mushroom risotto. Brittany was so on top of filling up my drink that I sort of forgot about it. Oops!

Lindsey Menner, Megan Giannini and Becky Tilson in a staged laughter shot

Dessert was black and white cookies and raspberry linzers, two iconic New York City cookies. If we can't be in NYC, we can bring it to us!

We even got shushed by a girl who lived on the same floor as the party room. Oops. I blame the cocktails and the copious amount of wine.

What they wore:

Me in Asos patent leather skirt and top, a VPL bra, and Alejandro Ingelmo pumps

Rachel Conner in H&M leather pants and lace top, Pitaya blazer, Victoria Secret bra

Hostesses with the mostesses: Brittany Conner in a Tibi top, Parker leather pleated skirt, and BCBG heels.

Megan Giannini in French Connection and Francesca's, shoes from an Italian boutique

Abby Reed in Forever 21 top, Bleulab leather pants, Fergie shoes and Target necklace

Lindsey Menner

Becky Tilson

Hostesses with the Mostesses: Brittany Conner (center) wore a Tibi top, Parker leather skirt, and BCBG heels.

Then we took the after party to Tini on Mass Ave:

Indianapolis Fashion's Night Out 2012

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

My sister and I at Fashion's Night Out. I'm in an Asos skirt, Noir jewelry, Steven Alan t-shirt, and Charles Jourdan pumps

It seems that almost every big city is participating in Fashion's Night Out, and Indy is no exception. This year I attended a party at the Artsgarden downtown, which is a beautiful location for any party.

Luckily, I got there early for the VIP party, because it was the only time they had wine! I'm probably just a lush, or maybe I just like free drinks. Either way, I was looking out for the best dressed of the night, and I easily came up with the winner. Drumroll please...

Derrick Braziel! Hands down, best dressed of the night. As you can see, his suit jacket's sleeves are tailored to the perfect length, with just an inch of his shirt sleeve showing. I love the shorter pant look, it's very trendy without the socks. In my opinion, the best dressed men in the world live in Italy, and I think Derrick would fit in perfectly there. It's extremely hard to spot fantastically dressed men in Indiana, as most Hoosiers tend to gravitate (wrongly) to a looser fit. This drives me bananas, so I was won over by this look. Extra points that he shopped at a thrift store for his look, DAV thrift. Well done, Derrick. Well done.

There were a few other well-dressed folks at Fashion's Night Out. Next up, another gentleman, Justin Canavan in Catou by Berny Martin. Excellent fit, and I love the on-trend printed tie.

Brianna Terhune rocked a retro look, which is quite daring for Indianapolis. Props for the bravery, my dear!

Genesis worked it in argyle socks, cute Western style top, and a fabulous cropped haircut.

My dear friend Megan Giannini looked smashing as well. I'm obsessed with her booties.

Andrea Grgic and Adair Ahlers, other friends, were gorgeous in equally chic looks with edgy accessories.

Megan's friends Vanessa Jennette and Kiersten Moffatt looking lovely.

Tenaya Bookout, a doppelganger for model Erin Heatherton, don't you think? I really liked her snake printed jeans.

Group shot with the girls!

And worst dressed goes to these guys in terrible Saturday Night Fever suits. I think they were actually models for a designer, which made it worse.
