Turkey Day Detox: Day 4

Sunday, December 7, 2008

Above: With 500 calories and 26 fat grams, Starbucks' tall Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate packs a mean punch, and not in a good way.

7:30 a.m. I thought I was safe from Bridgette’s breakfast horrors, but alas, I spoke too soon. I try to fill up on green tea while picking at a runny egg white omelet. Poor Bridgette.

11 a.m.
I eat some delicious homemade tomato soup and a side spinach salad topped with red peppers and salmon. I think the soup might have cream in it, but I pretend that I don’t notice.

2:30 p.m. More tomato soup. It's so good!

4:30 p.m. I meet my friend Gabrijel at Starbucks. I long for a salted caramel hot chocolate, but settle for a blueberry Tazo tea. I am momentarily jealous as I observe several customers happily sipping their fattening holiday spiced lattes until I notice that some of those said happy customers have rather unsightly figures.

6:30 p.m. The chefs make bison sliders and French fries, so I stay in my room and snack on some almonds.

7:45 p.m.
I use the elliptical for 25 minutes and finish up my workout with some crunches and stretching.

Exclusive David Kirsch tip: When using the elliptical, sit back on your heels and stick out your butt. This technique will engage your glutes, hamstrings, outer thighs and quads. Do not position your torso straight upright unless you want bulky thighs. And you shouldn’t want bulky thighs (not even the gentlemen).

9:30 p.m.
I order a spinach salad with marinated chicken from Pita Pit. I don’t think I’m supposed to eat this late, but I decide to consider that a suggestion, not an order.
