Did You Know They Still Hunt Dolphins? BARBARIC! Cove Guardians Exhibit Coming To Vegas!

Tuesday, September 9, 2014

In
the small coastal town of Taiji, Japan, thousands of dolphins and small whales
are captured and killed each year during the annual dolphin drive hunt. For a
staggering six months of every year, a group of dolphin hunters herd wild
migrating dolphins from the ocean’s open waters into a hidden shallow bay, now
infamously known around the world as the Cove. Sea Shepherd introduced the
atrocities of the Cove worldwide in 2003. Since 2010 Sea Shepherd has had an
ongoing presence of volunteers from around the globe who remain on the ground
in Taiji, documenting the slaughters in the Cove throughout the entire dolphin
hunt season. These ocean sentinels, known as Cove Guardians, document and
report on the atrocities in the Cove to pressure Japan to end Taiji’s
unnecessary hunt and capture of these incredibly intelligent, sentient beings.
The exhibit presents photos from the campaign in the hopes of raising awareness
and garnering support for the cause.
