Skippy to my Lou

Indiana University is renowned for many things: beautiful limestone architecture, award-winning medical and business schools, the top-rated student newspaper in the country, respected sports programs, and last, but not least, “The World’s Greatest College Weekend,” aka Little 500, IU’s 58-year-old annual bicycle race. Lance Armstrong once said it was the coolest event he had ever attended, Barack Obama found it important enough to campaign at this year, and it even provided the plot for the Academy Award winning film, Breaking Away. IU students, renowned for their partying, have notoriously used Little 5 as a way to indulge in a weekend-long booze-fest chock-full of sloppy shenanigans and drunken debauchery. This year 40 people were arrested by IU police officers, 31 minors were charged with possession of fake IDs, 9 people were arrested for drug-related offenses, and 202 summonses were issued. Hooray Hoosiers! Bravo for bad behavior! Unfortunately, the race ended last Saturday, April 14th, and won’t come again until next year, but you can keep the party rolling with this recipe for Skippys, a Little 5 staple and a proven recipe for drunkenness. It kind of tastes like pink champagne… after you’ve had a few of ‘em. But beware: This powerful pink drink packs a potent punch -- its nickname is “liquid roofie,” after all.
Skippys
Recipe provided by my sister Rachel, an IU alum and retired party professional
Ingredients:
1 case of Keystone Light beer
1 bottle of Kamchatka vodka
1 canister of pink Country Time lemonade powder
Directions:
Pour entire case of beer into a Styrofoam cooler. Squeeze in entire bottle of vodka, preferably accompanied by a maniacal cackle. Add entire contents of lemonade canister. Stir well. Add ice. Serve in Solo cups. Quit drinking when speech sounds like incoherent gibberish and walking seems impossible.
